Willoughby South Lady Rebels opened conference play with a convincing 10-1 win over visiting Kenston.
Violet Dichazy was phenomenal in the circle allowing only one un-earned run in seven innings on only two hits while striking out eight. The sophomore hurler also helped her cause in the batter’s box going 2-4 including a triple.
The South offense got a kick start in the third inning when Addy Matriano roped a solo homerun over the centerfield fence to make the score 3-1. She would later add a double in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Lady Rebels would score seven more runs in the next two innings to secure the knockout punch for the 10-1 final score.
Other Rebel notables were Makayla Schneider who was solid again at SS, went 2-3 at the plate with two doubles, 1 RBI and 2 RUNS. Mariya Reed stayed hot going 1-2 with a walk and a run scored. She also turned in a great performance in the hot corner at third base.
In all it was a great way to start the weekend and we’ll see what the weather says about Saturday’s match up at home against Geneva, who is next up for South.
