Softball is a game if highs and lows and today the Lady Rebels experienced both. The Rebs fell behind early in the 1st inning 5-0 as starter Halle Zupancic struggled with the Hilltoppers lineup early. The junior hurler allowed 2 doubles and a 2-run homerun in the inning that put Chardon up big.
The Lady Rebels fought back though behind the hot bats of Violet Dichazy, Summer Bliss, Paige Janson and Mariya Reed. Dichazy has been hot as of late and today went 4-4 with two doubles while Reed and Janson added two hits each. Down 7-1, Bliss blasted a 3-run homerun over the left field fence in the 6th and would later add another run via and RBI double in the next inning to tie the game at 7. She would finish 2-4 in the game.
Chardon put together a quick rally in the bottom of the 6th and took advantage of an untimely error on defense to plate 2 runs and held on for a 9-7 win.
One thing was certain, this Rebels team does not quit. They could have packed it in down 7-0 but instead they fought like they have all season and tied the game late.
The girls have little time to lick their wounds and get ready to host a tough Gilmour team tomorrow at 5pm. They’ll be ready.
