Injuries and sloppy defense were key ingredients in the Rebels loss to conference-leading Riverside 13-3 this afternoon on the road. Scoreless in the 3rd inning, starting pitcher Violet Dichazy took multiple line drive pitches to each leg within five pitches of each other and that was enough to send the sophomore out due to injury. Shortstop Makayla Schneider came in in bandaid relief and bought the Lady Rebels a few innings. In the end five defensive errors and good hitting by Riverside put the game away in the 5th.

Summer Bliss and Addy Matriano were bright spots on offense. Bliss went 3-3 and drove in two runs compliments of a homerun hit over the 230 foot centerfield fence. Matriano, who didn’t start, came in and went 2-2 scoring two runs replacing the injured Dichazy in the lineup.

Not a lot of time to dwell on this loss as the Lady Rebels will host Akron Ellet tomorrow at 5pm at South which will also be Senior Night for the Rebels.
